The 3-night competition phase of the annual Merrie Monarch Hula Festival begins tonight, with contestants vying for Miss Aloha Hula (both kahiko and auana). Some of today's "Aloha Kaua`i" broadcast included mele that will be heard at tonight's Festival. Friday night is kahiko competition (group kane and group wahine); Saturday night is auana competition (group kane and group wahine), ending with the awards ceremony.
